Celebrating transitioning at Target!!  |
Rori Picker Neiss finally acknowledged their transgender child at the age of 7, but naively remarked that it was not something particularly eventful. That it only involved a name change and their pronouns. This is why children suffer depression and suicidal tendencies, because they are not being celebrated. It took going to Target for Rori to suddenly realize the importance of transgender celebration.
Rori commented, "As [they] get older, what we're looking at is first puberty blockers, so medication that would prevent puberty from happening in the natural course at its core really to buy us time. What we don't want is to have unnecessary and sometimes invasive surgeries. And so we want to be able to push a pause button to make sure that we're not making these decisions when [they] get to be 11, 12, or 13."
